Conference Program


Call for Papers
We invite undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world to submit their research to present in the 5'th International Student Conference in Izmir University of Economics. Izmir,considered by many, as the most modern and open minded city of the region, is located at the west coast of Turkey, close to many seaside towns each with their own colorful Mediterranean characteristics. Having hosted many ancient civilizations, Izmir provides a rich historical environment to interested visitors as well as a multi cultural modern city life with colorful night life and beautiful scenery. The conference not only provides young researchers an opportunity to present and share their work to their future colleagues but also with its social events like the trip to the ancient city of Ephesus and the village of Sirince, it allows the guests to have a taste of the cultural life of the region. We encourage submissions from all disciplines in social sciences, including, but not limited to,

  • Political Science
  • Logistics
Submission should be done via email (see contact information). Please convert your documents to Microsoft Word file format.
Funding
All expenses of invited paper holders during the conference, which includes the lodging (at the hotel arranged by the conference committee), the Ephesus trip and the conference dinner will be covered by the university. Moreover, the travel expenses of accepted applicants with full funding will be partially covered by us. Please note that we provide full funding only to undergraduate applicants. Upon declaration of the ticket receipt, we will cover either the full amount of the ticket cost or the values indicated below, whichever is minimum.
  • Travellers from America, up to 1000 US$.
  • Travellers from Europe, up to 250 Euros.
  • Travellers from Asia, up to 1000 US$.
  • Travellers from middle east and north Africa, up to 500 US$.
  • Travellers from other locations, up to 1000 US$.
  • Domestic applicants, up to 100 YTL.
In addition to above funding best papers will receive awards.
Deadlines
Deadline for paper submission is on March 1, 2009 (March 15 for domestic applicants). Please indicate for which field you want your paper to be considered. Accepted papers will be announced by March 8, 2009.
Conference Outline
The conference will be a two-day event hosted by Izmir University of Economics in Izmir between April 13 and 14, 2009. A half day trip to the historical Ephesus city and a "welcome" dinner in the evening are arranged for April 13. Participants who wish to attend these activities shall arrive Izmir on April 12. Presentations will be done on April 14. Student participants and other attendees will register for the conference on April 14 before the presentations. There will be a award ceremony consisting of "Best Paper Award" following the presentations.
